We have put our new car news site up for public beta, so go and check it out. Site gathers all the major news sites feeds into one easy to follow page. Many new features are already in development, but we decided to let it our already in this early phase, in true Web 2.0 spirit. Site includes language versions with local feeds, so if you notice that your favorite localized feed is not showing give us feedback and well add it there.

1.-4.5.2008 was held the sixth Tuning World exhibition at Bodensee Germany. Bodensee or Lake Constance in English, is a beautifully lake located across the Austrian and Swiss borders surrounded by the white peaks of the Alps. Since the exhibition was located in central europe, there were of course all the big tuner’s present. Exhibition was divided into 10 halls and outdoor drifting area, so there was lot’s of ground to cover.

We visited the show on the 1st May and here is what caught our eye during the visit.

As the weather is still freezing outside, roads covered with ice and the DSC light keeps blinking in your dash, the carfreaks are preparing for the summer. I’m quite sure, that most of the carfreaks honestly hate winter for the horrible driving conditions it throws at you. You rarely get the same kicks as you do in the summer. But there is also something good in all this too. As there simply is nothing else to do in winter, you have time to surf the internet for various stores and forums, researching for ways to improve your car. Pasi has taken this to the extreme with his E30 M3 project, and has not been seen much after he started working with it. Other carfreaks are also improving their already great rides, maybe not in the same scale as Pasi is, but clearly there is quite a bit going on. The finnish winter is the proving ground for us, although you don’t get to see the results before the summer arrives. I’m sure everybody is anxiously waiting for the summer, I am for sure. It is here finally. After several months of hard work, sleepless nights and uncountable number of refreshment drinks: the new carfreaks.net.

It all started from the creative team’s vision that our public front, the carfreaks.net, needs a major update. The vision was quickly crystallized into the importance of high quality content. During the past years web publishing tools have developed significantly and the team wanted to rebuild the site completely to support easy content publishing. Looking at the result, you just have to admit that they were spot on with that vision!

It’s just matter of a few days until the public release of the new carfreaks.net site. There’s still plenty to do until we are ready, but looks like we’ll make it. This will be the 1.0 release of the site, and while it may look complete, it is far from that. Work will immediately continue to bring even more content and features online. Being the perfectionists that we are, I doubt that we’ll ever be fully satisfied with the results. On the other hand, this has the benefit of pushing ourselves to fix the parts of the site we don’t like.

At the very early state of carfreaks activity, we have used web to keep the carfreaks entity alive, to give it a cornerstone to build our petrol filled dreams. The early versions of carfreaks.net were more focused to our members, keeping them up to date what was going on in carfreaks. As time passed by, people outside our group were starting to get curious of the mysterios carfreaks who appeared in the track-days and were spotted shooting photos in various locations in Finland. Who are they?
