CF stands for…
Christmas is here again! Oh, wait – no it’s not. But it just as well could be, at least for the ‘freaks – the spring time usually includes a fair bit of shopping
Here’s my first contribution for this year – the Carbonio intake. The intake inlet itself is made of very high quality carbon-fiber, with a show-quality finish. It also comes with a drop-in oil-less washable replacement air filter, which is a direct replacement for the OEM paper filter. Installation itself was a simple 30 minute job, detailed instructions were included in the package.
Unlike many intakes, the Carbonio one doesn’t really change the tone of the engine that much. This was known when I bought it, and quite clear at the first start after the installation as well. The blow-off valve is now slightly more prominent, but you really have to push the car to hear the difference. Under normal driving, the intake is just as quiet as stock – which is just the way I like it.
There are probably no huge gains in terms of power either – maybe a bit on the high-end of the rev range, but nothing to write to home about. What many have however reported, and what my butt-dyno also agrees to, is that the intake does make the engine more responsive. The engine hesitates less now, making the overall driving experience just that small bit more fun.
Do note that I’ve only driven less than 50km with the intake so far. I will obviously update should my oppinion change, or if there are other noteworthy observations to make. And, almost forgot – thanks again to Repo @ Pro-Mo for the parts and the service!

Loves to track, but also enjoys the more subtle aspects of carfreakness. Will not bow to any one particular brand or make. Accepts the fact that neither he or his toys may be the very best in their own categories - just "plain" good can be quite rewarding and challenging.
